4th Booster Shot for Covid-19 May Be Needed, Says White House Medical Adviser Dr Fauci

Booster Shot for Covid-19: Ever since the concerns have started raising about the need of a fourth booster dose to contain coronavirus, Dr Anthony Fauci stated that it’s an existing issue which is being followed very closely.

 

Antony Fauci, who’s the White House Chief Medical advisor stated that there may be a need for the 4th booster shot in the United States to battle with COVID-19 Omicron variant.

He further added that the booster might be based on a person’s age along with some other underlying conditions of the person concerned.

This is what Dr Fauci said in a press briefing, “There may be the need for yet again another boost — in this case, a fourth-dose boost for an individual receiving the mRNA — that could be based on age, as well as underlying conditions,” he said.

Regarding the need in the Us for the 4th booster dose, Dr Anthony Fauci said that the issue has been followed very closely and the decision might be taken in the time to come.

Earlier, he revealed that as many as half a million people across the globe have dlost their lives due to COVID-19. He also said there was a time when the omicron variant of the coronavirus was first detected in the month of November which is also known as the full-blown pandemic phase” we have seen.

It was on Tuesday when WHO (World Health Organization) stated that up to 1 lakh deaths since Omicron was declared a ‘variant of concern’ in the USA.

Dr. Fauci further added, “The data from the trials on children from six months to 24 months, as well as those from 21 months to — up to the end of four years have been conducted by the pharmaceutical company, in this case, Pfizer.” he said.

Earlier, the White House continued to satate that its adherence to US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidance encouraging mask usage in schools Monday (local time) as some states take steps toward lifting mask mandates in the classroom, CNN reported.

As per the Washington Post, the death toll due to coronavirus rose for the 5th consecutive week globally with 68,000 fatalities reported last week. The data shows that they represented up to 7% jump from the last week.

WHO chief Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus also stated last week that death toll due to COVID-19 continue to rise in many parts of the world. He warned all countries not to think that they have won the battle against the coronavirus in anyway.

“We’re concerned that a narrative has taken hold in some countries that because of vaccines, and because of omicron’s high transmissibility and lower severity, preventing transmission is no longer possible, and no longer necessary,” he stated.
