A New Research Claims Vitamin B6 Helps Reduce Anxiety

As per a new research, vitamin B6 helps to reduce both anxiety and depression levels. The study says a person needs to consume high doses of vitamin B6 to get rid of the above symptoms.

The new findings published in the journal Human Psychopharmacology Clinical and Experimental.

The researchers, in order to conduct clinical tests, used patients with high depression levels. After they administered some high dosages of vitamin B6 in them, they found them feeling less worried and sad.

While explaining the above phenomenon, Dr David Field, who’s the principal author at the University of Reading School of Psychology and Clinical Language said that brain’s ability to operate mainly rely on balance between excitatory neurons (transport information) and inhibitory neurons (curb overactive behavioral pattern).

Several hypothesis have come out in the recent past to explain disruption in the above balance of neurons. It happens at the time of an increased brain activity, especially at the time of mood disorders and other neuropsychiatric illnesses.

Vitamin B6 Promotes Gamma Aminobutyric Acid Synthesis

The role of vitamin B6 is that it produces a specific chemical messenger that largely inhibits impulses in brain which causes reduced anxiety levels.

So far, the research has indicated that marmite or multivitamins can help lower down anxiety levels. But only a limited research has been taken place to spot which particular vitamin is responsible to produce such effects.

Bu the new findings mainly relied on vitamin B6 functioning which is known to promote the synthesis of CABA (Gamma Aminobutyric Acid), responsible to inhibit impulses in the nerve cells of brain.
