Although, the above states have still not received any severe cases so far, health officials continue to warn patients who have influenza-like illnesses. And so, they have urged them to go ahead for testing, tracking and treatment before it becomes severe.

Omicron Sub variants to Blame?

Some experts have an opinion that the above surge in the rise of COVID-19 cases in the country may be due to the presence of Omicron sub-lineages including BA.2.38 and BA.2. However, at some other parts of the country, BA.5 and BA.4 have shown prevalence.

On the other hand, European Centre for Disease Control and Prevention have already declared BA.5 and BA.4 Omicron sub-variants to be the variants of concern.
