A Czech singer has lost her life after intentionally getting caught COVID-19, as per her son told to leading news agencies.

Right from the beginning, Hana Horka, 57 was not vaccinated. She even posted on social media that she was recovering after she was tested positive for the coronavirus. But she died after a span of 2 days.

Her son Jan Rek has come out to narrate the entire incident. According to Rek, she got infected when both he and his father contacted the virus. She only wanted to get a recovery pass to access sports venue.

It was on Wednesday when The Czech Republic reported a record number of COVID-19 cases.

Earlier, both Rek and his father had contacted coronavirus. But they were already vaccinated. But according to him, his mother had decided not to stay away from them. And so, she preferred to catch the virus deliberately.

“She should have isolated for a week because we tested positive. But she was with us the whole time,” Rek said.

In the Czech Republic, people need to give proof of getting vaccinated before talking part in any social or cultural event. Rek stated that his mother was a part of a renowned band in Czech Republic by the name Asonance.

As per Horka’s son, she had wanted to catch Covid intentionally so as to minimize restrictions on her movement. It was just two days before she died, she wrote on social media, “Now there will be theatre, sauna, a concert”.

As per BBC, it was on Sunday morning when Ms Horka stated that she’s all fine and dressed to go out for a walk. But she had to come back and lie down as her back was hurting.

“In about 10 minutes it was all over,” her son said. “She choked to death”.

Her son said although she was not vaccinated, she never believed in any of the theories about Covid vaccines.

“Her philosophy was that she was more OK with the idea of catching Covid than getting vaccinated. Not that we would get microchipped or anything like that,” he said.

Rek never believed that it would go fruitful to discuss it with her in any way as it would become too emotional. But now, he only hoped to narrate this story so that others could get vaccinated.

“If you have living examples from real life, it’s more powerful than just graphs and numbers. You can’t really sympathize with numbers.”

This Wednesday, the number of COVID-19 cases reached up to 28,469 in a population of 10.7 million people.

In order to combat the coronavirus, the government has decided to allow mandatory testing for schoolchildren and employees. Curently, the isolation period for those who test positive with no symptoms has been reduced to 5.
