Covid-19 Booster Shot: The findings are based as per the US study conducted on patients having over 241,204 visits to the emergency department along with 93,408 hospitalizations

 

The efficacy of the 3rd doses of Moderna mRNA and Pfizer vaccines warns by the 4th month after administration. The new and emerging study conducted by the US Centers of Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) on Friday.

Although, it’s been well documented now that the efficacy of the above covid vaccines has to go down after 2 doses, not much information available regarding the protection or duration after administering a booster.

Please note that the efficacy of a vaccine is generally determined by presenting the results of a positive Covid test with vaccinated and non vaccinated patients.

The study also took the relevance of geographic area and calendar week while adjusting for age, patient characteristics like comorbiditie and the level of local transmission.

At the time of Omicron variant, vaccine efficacy against COVID-19 associated emergency department or urgent care visits was 87 percent during the two months after a third dose. Not much information is there regarding the Covid-19 booster shot.

This is what the authors of this research concluded, “The finding that protection conferred by mRNA vaccines waned in the months after receipt of a third vaccine dose reinforces the importance of further consideration of additional doses to sustain or improve protection,” they concluded.

Anthony Fauci who’s President Joe Biden’s top medical advisor stated while addressing at a White House Covid briefing stated that it looks quite evident that he 4th dosses would be needed, especially for those whose immune system is not that strong.
