Microneedling has been found effective for Acne scar treatment, according to a new research.
Babar Rao, a renowned dermatology professor randomly examined as many as 60 patients having dark skin and acne scars.
You might be wondering what microneedling is all about. Well, it’s basically a cosmetic procedure that involves sterilized needles that mainly pierce the skin to stimulate the production of enough collagen which ultimately reduces scarring.
On the other hand chemical peels applying a solution to the skin that removes the top layers.
Microneedling for Acne Scar Treatment
This is what Dr Rao has to say, “Based on the results of this study, patients whose darker skin precludes the use of stronger chemical peels, which can permanently discolor darker skin, should treat acne scars with microneedling,” he said.
He added, “For patients with lighter skin who can use stronger peels without risk of discoloration, chemical peels might still be the best option for some.” he said.
