Ludhiana Witnesses Huge Spike In Swine Flu Cases

As per the latest health news, Ludhiana witnesses a 50 fold spike in the number of swine flu cases. It’s been reported that as many as 50 cases surfaced this year against a single case last year in 2021.

Out of the 50 cases reported in Ludhiana (India) this year, 11 patients have lost their lives and 4 of them are currently undergoing their treatment.

It was on Tuesday when a 55 year old resident of Tarsem Nagar lost his life after he succumbed to the disease.

The above patient had been undergoing treatment Dayanand Medical College and Hospital. And this is the 2nd death in the last 2 days.

However, in 2021, the same district reported only one case. In 2020, as many as 14 such cases were reported. Out of them there were 5 causalities.

Looking at the spike, in the district, deputy commissioner Surabhi Malik had also come down with the flu in the month of September. It was caused by H1N1 virus.

In order to make everything under control, state health department today issued directions to the local authorities to review the deaths being caused due to swine flu.

 

Swine Flu Symptoms

Reacting to the above, Dr Rajesh Mahajan, professor at department of medicine stated that the spike in the swine flu cases is mostly seen post-monsoon.

For precaution, health experts have advised to use masks so as to protect themselves from the dangers of the virus.

Please note that the primary symptoms of infection due to swine flu virus include:

  • Diarrhoea
  • Difficulty in breathing
  • Pain in the throat
  • Runny nose
  • Sneezing
  • Cold
  • Cough
  • High fever

In spite of the alarming number of swine flu cases, the only respite is that there are no cases of COVID-19 reported in Ludhiana on Tuesday.

There are currently 13 active cases of COVID-19 in the district though.
