Study Finds Testosterone Not Responsible for Heart Problems In Men

Heart Problems in Men: As per a study conducted, it has been revealed that testosterone is not directly linked to trigger cardiovascular diseases or a risk of mortality among men.

A clinical research that was performed earlier only managed to provide some inefficient data as if testosterone is actually responsible for heart problems in men during their first course of treatment begins.

The above research was conducted at ENDO 2022, the Endocrine Society’s annual meeting in Atlanta, Ga., and published in The Lancet Healthy Longevity.

In general, testosterone is responsible to enhance the level of hematocrit that poses the risk of venous thromboembolism.

But a team of researchers from the US S. Food and Drug Administration has stated that heart problems due to the increased level of secretion of testosterone is still unclear.

Heart Problems In Men: Study Finds Testosterone Not Responsible

Channa Jayasena, who’s the Head of Andrology at the Imperial College of London in London, U.K. has to say, “We were unable to find evidence from our individual patient data (IPD) meta-analyses that testosterone increases risks of mortality or cardiovascular and/or cerebrovascular events in the short- to medium-term in men with low testosterone, most of whom have various forms of functional hypogonadism,” he said.

After a series of clinical trials conducted by the researchers, it was revealed that the risk of cardiovascular events are basically similar between placebo and testosterone groups.

Further, they could not identify the subgroups having a greater risk for cardiovascular and related events.

It was found that testosterone mainly helped reducing the level of triglycerides, high-density lipoprotein (HDL) and serum total cholesterol when compared with placebo.
