As per a new study conducted to make life easier for people with dementia, it has been found that talking therapies can really help them. Such type of therapies can readily help them from anxiety and depression.

It’s because people who suffer from any kind of mental illness generally suffer from anxiety and depression which is found quite common in them.

As per figures, close to 40% people having mild dementia are found to be affected by these conditions.

The new study is published in the journal eClinicalMedicine to establish talking therapies are really effective in people with dementia.

The study too 2,515,402 people who had either depression or significant anxiety. Some of them even had a treatment via the national ‘Improving Access to Psychological Therapies’ (IAPT) service in England between 2012 and 2019.

But researchers couldn’t infer causal relationships between receiving therapy and having an improvement in symptoms.

They also failed to distinguish type of therapy given to the patients during their IAPT treatment so it is unclear whether one type of therapy may be better than any other in treating anxiety and depression in people living with dementia.
