Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) in women is not new. In fact, the condition has been there for quite a very long time.

As per a recent study, it has been shown that women may experience different PCOS symptoms as per where they live.

The study came to the surface after studying women in Alabama after they experienced more insulin resistance and excessive hair hair growth as compared to women (with PCOS) living in California.

The above findings have been published in the journal Endocrine Society’s Journal of Clinical Endocrinology & Metabolism.

Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS)- Most Common Cause of Infertility Among Women

Polycystic Ovary Syndrome has been found to be the prime reason of infertility among women. As per the data in this regard, 7-10% of women at their early age suffer from this condition.

If you look at this in a wider term, almost 6 million women in the United States are known to have the condition. But the condition is still underdiagnosed.

A women has the chance to develop PCOS if she starts secreting excess androgen (male sex hormone) along with having polycystic ovaries and ovulatory dysfunction.

This is what Margareta D. Pisarska, M.D., of Cedars-Sinai in Los Angeles, Calif has to say, “Our study found geographical differences in PCOS in black and white women, suggesting there are both genetic and environmental influences on how this disease manifests,” he said.

The research checked the data from 1,610 white and black women suffering from PCOS. The researchers revealed how these women behaved differently as per their region.
