Atopic Dermatitis

Atopic Dermatitis: In order to support the above, a recent study has proven that women who witness the problems of atopic dermatitis have to check issues related to their sexual function.. Out of those surveyed, 50% feel that their condition may impact their reproductive desires.

The research, led by Juan-Angel Rodriguez-Pozo from Virgen de las Nieves University Hospital in Granada, Spain, involved a deep  analysis conducted up to a month. It included online surveys completed by 102 women suffering from atopic dermatitis.

The research indicated that 68.6% of women with atopic dermatitis reported issues with sexual function, with the problem being more pronounced in those with severe cases or genital and gluteal involvement.

Moreover, approximately 51% of participants believed that atopic dermatitis might impact their desire for pregnancy, particularly those affected in the gluteal area.

This is what the authors note, “Atopic dermatitis influences quality of life, sexual function, and the desire for pregnancy. Well, there are some causes responsible to spread this issue and are also known to apmlify the above.

Despite these issues, patients rarely discuss these concerns with their dermatologist.” They suggest that “Dermatologists should adopt a more holistic approach, addressing not only the physical symptoms but also some other related social dimensions, including sexual health and reproductive aspirations.”
