This will make US forces in Japan to lift these restrictions outside their bases as per the schedule.

The restrictions included some measures like a curfew from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. along with limiting the movement of U.S. military personnel outside military facilities to essential activities.

In spite of the above restrictions being taken off, the obligation to wear a mask will have to be maintained at any point of time.

These measures were first introduced on January 10 after a steep rise in the coronavirus cases, especially among US military personnel.

The cases were mostly seen in areas like Yamaguchi and Okinawa that hosted US millenary bases. The above measures were taken after the surge of infections of the Omicron variant of coronavirus.

It all started from last month when it was noticed a spike in new infections among American personnel followed by COVID-19 case clusters.
