COVID-19 Vaccine: US has taken an initiative to help 112 countries by sending more than 400 million COVID-19 vaccines. This incredible work has been done under the present Biden administration.
The US has sent over 40 million COVID-19 vaccines to 112 countries so as to help these nations. This has been a great help under the present Biden administration towards the country’s objective of providing as many as 1.2 billion COVID-19 vaccine doses to these countries.
Jeff Zients who represent the White House COVID-19 response coordinator, asserted that donation has been 4 times larger as compared to any other country. He also said that US has achieved another milestone this week according to which over 70% of elderly people are getting a booster dose.
This is what he added (as per Guardian) “This is significant progress, as the doctors and data have made it clear that vaccinations and boosters provide the best protection against COVID-19,” he said.
As per CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention), for the last week, the number of daily averages of cases along with the hospitalization have declined. The present weekly average of COVID-19 occurrences in the country has gone down by 6% from the last week.
On the contrary, the 7 day hospitalization in the country has been 19,800 per day which has gone down by 8%. At the same time, the 7 day average of daily causalities is somewhere around 2,200 which is an increase of 22%.
Overall COVID-19 Burden Remains High In the US: Dr Walensky
As per a report given by Dr Rochelle Walensky, who’s the head of CDC, data shows the severity of COVID-19 due to Omicron variant has gone down as compared to older variants.
This is what she said, “Although it’s encouraging to know that Omicron appears to be producing less severe diseases, it’s crucial to realize that the overall burden of the disease still remains high in the country. We must care to wear a mask and get vaccinated to boost our immune system,” she added.
Scientists Currently Working On A “Pan-Coronavirus” Vaccine: Dr Fauci
As per Dr Fauci, who represents the Director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases stated that scientists are currently working on a “pan-coronavirus” vaccine.
He stated that they are trying to develop a long lasting protection by developing the pan-coronavirus vaccine. It will be working against all variants of COVID-19.
“I don’t want anyone to get the impression that pan-coronavirus vaccine will be available in a month or two,” he added.
