Diabetes Injection: A New Secret of Hollywood for Losing Weight

Hollywood has adopted a brand new way to lose weight by using diabetes injection.

The trend is not new as many renowned Hollywood celebrities have adopted the same tactic to lose weight.

There are some speculation on celebrities like Kim Kardashian and Elon Musk using diabetes injection to lose some extra pounds fast.

In the past, Elon Musk had already made it clear that it doesn’t like spending time in gym to lose weight.

He said after his father criticized him of his poor eating habits, he doesn’t like to lose weight by going the traditional way.

He has admitted using Wegovy, the injection used by most celebrities for chronic weight management in adults or those living with obesity.

The same injection is also being used by those who are overweight and are suffering from one or more weight-related condition like high cholesterol, type 2 diabetes, or high blood pressure.

When a fan asked Kim about her secret of losing weight, she said ‘Fasting’ and ‘Wegovy’.

Please note that Wegovy is basically a high dose of a popular diabetes drug called semaglutide. This drug is being extensively used for weight loss purposes.

Kim Kardashian, a well known reality star managed to shed 20 pounds and after this one of her fans pulled up Musk’s recent tweet about Wegovy.

This is what she posted in her TikTok video, “How did Kim K lose so much weight so fast? Is she on Wegovy/Ozempic/Mounjaro?”

Side Effects & Advantages of Diabetes Injection

Semaglutide is the drug which is sold under the names like Ozempic, Wegovy and many more. It’s basically the antidiabetic medication which is used for treating type 2 diabetes. It’s use is also there for long term weight management as well.

But the problem is that due to its properties, most people use it for high cholesterol, high blood pressure, or long-term weight management.

This drug by the name Semaglutide costs up to $1,300 per month in the US. Another dilemma is that insurance companies don’t cover the cost of this medication.

Stil, majority of people are using it to reduce their body weight by up to 15%.

As per the previous research conducted on this, it was found that obese and overweight participants jabbing themselves with Ozempic weekly lost 37 pounds.

However, there are side effects involved as doctors warn them from time to time.

For example, Dr. Robert Glatter, an emergency medicine Physician at Lenox Hill, stated, “The risk of gastrointestinal side effects including nausea, vomiting, bloating and constipation is a caution to patients.” he said.

Overwhelming Demand of Semaglutide Leads to Concern

As more and more people are using drugs to lose weight, there is a much concern about the same. It’s mainly because such medications can be risky and are likely to induce side effects at a later stage.

This is what a Hollywood nutritionist Matt Mahowald has to say, “moderating and pulling back insulin secretion, and slowing down your stomach from emptying. It promotes satiation from food.”

He said the demand for such medications are rising every year. In addition to this insurance companies are refusing to cover its cost, especially for those who is not diabetic. And this has led to a panic like situation.

The drug started trending on the market right after the TikTok trend #MyOzempicJourney that showed desired weight loss. As per an estimate, about 72 million people have clicked on it.

Apart from its advantages, there are some dangers associated. Some of them include diarrhea, constipation, bloating and more. It looks like many Hollywood celebrities are willing to take the above risk in the form of its side effects.
